of a house in the bustling city of Agra, India, with just 4 hand operated
single spindle machines began the journey, to become India's largest
lens manufacturer, GKB Hi-Tech, satisfies more than 5 million spectacle
wearers worldwide every year. With a total manufacturing area of more
than 150,000 sq.ft., GKB Hi-Tech is always up to date with the latest
technological advances in the optical industry. |
| With state-of-the-art
CNC machinery imported from LOH of Germany, Coburn, Balzers
and Satis Vacuum, 14 prescription laboratories and 5 service
centres around the country, GKB Hi-Tech is the first company
to manufacture progressive, hi-index and multi coated lenses
in India. There are more than 600 automated lens manufacturing
machines producing glass and plastic ophthalmic lenses, having
a capacity to manufacture 3 million prescription lenses, 3.5
million hard coated lenses and 6.2 million stock lenses yearly. |

With 14 hard coating machines,
the lenses at GKB Hi-Tech are dip coated with a layer of Silica
Lacquer. The 10 AR coating machines at GKB Hi-Tech are of the
latest standards offering a broad band coating. All AR coated
lenses also have an additional hydrophobic coating. |

| All the lenses produced
meet not only with ISI specifications but also international
standards including DIN of Germany, FDA of USA. GKS Hi-Tech
has a reputation of always being up-to-date with the latest
technological advancements in the optical field. In addition
to exporting to over 30 countries worldwide, GKB Hi-Tech has
grown to be one of the most successful and largest ophthalmic
lens manufacturers in India, with a market share of 35-38%,
and an annual sales of 20 million dollars |

GKB Hi-Tech Lenses
not only have managed to achieve a well knit marketing and distribution
system in India, but have also gained immense popularity in the
international market.
In order to maintain a sustained rate of growth in exports, GKB
Hi-Tech have opened their own subsidiary in South Africa, and looks
forward to opening laboratories and distribution centres in the
Middle East, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Mauritius and Indonesia.
